Luddite Clubs are being created in schools for adolescents who want to ditch their phones and spend time getting to know their peers face-to-face. Teens are often referred to as "screenagers" but some refuse to be labeled as such. These clubs meet after school at an identified location. Students engage in activities with one rule: no smartphones allowed.
Parents can advocate for their school districts to start Luddite Clubs and encourage their children to attend. (Avery Hartmans, 2022) As a result, parents are finding healthy ways to support and advocate for their teen's need to socialize while off screen. In turn, teens will build their in-person social skills.
